Introduction

​Ru is a multi-faceted + ever evolving + diamond in the rough creative, based in South Africa, on a journey of defining a unique African voice in global storytelling. As a newborn in the Creative Industry, her work is indicative of her nature, detail oriented and innovative. At the heart of Ru's creative philosophy she believes that the fusion of a well-educated mind and a strong sense of self is the key to creating truly impactful work as well as the belief in the power of underrepresented voices.  She is committed to breaking boundaries, opening new doors, and fostering a creative space where authenticity and innovation are prioritized. Her goal is to amplify African voices in global media, creating opportunities for talented creators to rise and be seen.

With a background in Cinematography, Color Correction & Color Grading, her creative expression benefited the most from receiving training in the technical field of filmmaking. This allowed her to harness her creativity and learn to incorporate her interest in various mediums of art [visual, musical & theatrical] to her practical planning and application which aided in her visuals being grounded, and encoded with layers of meaning and points of visual reference. ​​

 

Her recent education in Web and Graphic Design has and continues to further empower her in creating compelling visuals, across multiple mediums. Her focus is on crafting a holistic approach to digital and visual storytelling. The intersection of color grading, design, and production gives her a versatile range of creative possibilities, whether it's for film, documentary, narrative projects, or supporting emerging artists.
